Dinner, Drama, & Discourse!
Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas and Neon Films have graciously provided Will Knight 2020, the campaign to elect Will Knight as our next Maricopa County Attorney, with the licensing rights and venue space to screen Clemency, a powerful drama starring Academy Award Nominee Alfre Woodard.
Written and directed by Chinonye Chukwu, Clemency shines a light on the reality faced by inmates on death row by telling the painful story of Anthony Woods (Aldis Hodge), a black man convicted of murder and sentenced to die for his role in an armed robbery he participated in as a young man. Clemency won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize, currently enjoys a 96% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and is expected to generate some Oscar buzz.
This exclusive event has limited seating, but the $250 ticket price includes a cocktail hour before, dinner service by Alamo’s outstanding staff during, and an open-forum panel discussion after the film, hosted by Roy Tatem, President of the East Valley NAACP, where you can discuss the issues raised by Clemency with the candidate, Will Knight, and some substantive experts at the forefront of capital litigation in Arizona today.
